After wiping the sweat from my palms

After wiping the sweat from my palms,

I'll look into your eye,

I will shake your hand,

and explain how to say my name.

I'll bring what I have,

and set it upon your table.

I'll read the words beneath your pictures,

of vulnerability,

courage and love,

and I'll shake your hand again.

I'll listen to your stories and observations,

and share with you the depths of mine.

I'll see you in places that I frequent,

amongst people that I know,

and I'll shake your hand again.

I'll recognize you from across the crowd,

and set out to walk your way.

I'll reexplain my name,

and I'll shake your hand again.

But unfortunately,

as far as you know,

I only know me.

So you'll choose not to memorize my name.

And when I see you seated at the table

of your self appointed king,

I'll find that you can't reach my hand.
